About Umpire Training

If you would like to umpire to earn the return of your $75 volunteer (AA & AAA level only) or are a teen interested in getting PAID to umpire, you MUST attend the two training classes that will be held on Wed. Feb 24 and Wed. Mar 3.

Parents of Single A, Double A and Triple A players are HIGHLY encouraged to attend one of the 'Parent from the Stands' classes (held Mar. 18 and Mar. 23). The material is the same on both days, so choose the day that's best for you. This quick 2-hour class will provide you with the instruction necessary to umpire your child's games. Dads AND moms should attend. Attending the class in NO WAY obligates you to ever have to umpire a game. If you never do, at least you'll have a better understanding of the rules and how the umpire approaches their job.

Why attend the 'Parent from the Stands' class?
1) Parents are the umpires for Single A games -- WSLL does not assign umpires for these games. The home team provides the Plate Umpire and the visiting team the Field Umpire. So, attend the class so you'll know what to do. ** Please note that you CANNOT earn the return of your volunteer fee by umpiring Single A games
2) The league's goal is to assign umpires to AA and AAA games, but there are never enough and more times than not, a parent (or two) will have to come out of the stands to officiate the game.

Thank you for supporting your children and the league. Remember, Little League is a volunteer organization. We need your help, especially when it comes to umpires.
